Getting started
Do I really have to type my menu items one by one?
No. Never. Snap a photo of your menu, or upload the PDF, Excel or Word file — any digital version you have. Our Smart Menu Scanner reads it and builds your digital menu, with categories, items, descriptions and prices, in about one to two minutes. You check it and publish it. Prefer not to? Our team will import your menu for you instead, the same day, on any plan.
Is my menu built by AI, or by a person?
By AI — and checked by you before anyone sees it. The Smart Menu Scanner does the reading and the typing in a minute or two, but nothing goes live until you've looked it over, because a menu with a wrong price is worse than no menu at all. If you'd rather a person did it, ask: our team will import and check it for you, the same day. On Full Service, we always do.
What do you do for me, and what do I do myself?
On the Free and Pro plans the Smart Menu Scanner builds your categories, items, descriptions and prices in a couple of minutes; you check them and add your own photos and campaigns when you're ready. You can also ask our team to import your menu for you, the same day. On Full Service we set everything up for you with the photos and offers you send, and we keep making your changes for you afterwards.
What can the Smart Menu Scanner read?
Almost anything that shows your menu: a phone photo of the printed menu, a PDF, an Excel or Word file, a screenshot, an image from your website. The clearer the file, the better the result. It reads categories, item names, descriptions and prices, and you review everything before it goes live.
My old menu has no descriptions. Can AI write them?
Yes — on Pro and Full Service, and on every plan during your first 30 days. When an item has no description, AI suggests one — short, appetizing and in your menu's tone. If you already have descriptions, it can suggest fresh versions whenever you like. Every suggestion is yours to shape: rewrite it, shorten it, add your own touch, or throw it away. Nothing is published until you approve it.
Can I edit the AI descriptions?
As much as you like, any time. Treat them as a first draft from a good copywriter: keep what sounds like you, change what doesn't. Your edits are saved as your own text, and you can ask for a new suggestion whenever you want a different angle.
Are my smart descriptions deleted when I move to the free plan after the first 30 days?
No. Every description you've published is part of your menu, and your menu is yours, so nothing is deleted when your account moves to the free plan. It doesn't matter whether a description started as an AI suggestion or you wrote it yourself: it stays on your menu exactly as it is, and your guests keep seeing it. You can still edit those descriptions on the free plan, like any other text. The only thing that changes after the first 30 days is that you can no longer ask AI for new suggestions, because that's part of Pro and Full Service. Upgrade whenever you like and the suggestions come straight back.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. We don't ask for a card or any payment method when you sign up, so nothing can be charged by accident.
Do I need new hardware, a new POS or a tablet?
No. Your guests use their own phones. If you'd like a tablet menu at the host stand, any tablet with a browser works.
Can I keep the QR codes I already have?
If your current QR code points to a web address you control, you can point that address at your MenuOnGo menu and keep the codes. If it points to another provider's link, you'll need new codes — we generate them for free, ready to print.
Do I have to reprint my QR codes when I change my menu?
No. Your QR code never changes. A new price, a new dish, an offer or a new language: every change you make goes live behind the same code right away. Print it once, and the code on the table always opens your up-to-date menu. That's true on every plan, including Free.
Where does my menu live?
At your own address on menuongo.com (menuongo.com/menu/your-name). Your QR codes, your Google listing and your social profiles all point there, so one update changes every place at once.
Can I manage several locations from one place?
Yes — on Pro and Full Service. Every location gets its own menu and QR code. Central menu management lets you see and update the menus and items of all your locations from one place, while each branch can still mark its own items as sold out. Pro and Full Service are priced per location. On the free plan, each location runs on its own.
Is there a step-by-step guide for setting things up?
Yes. Every how-to — importing your menu with the Smart Menu Scanner, adding photos and allergens, translating your menu on Pro, putting your menu on Google Maps and more — has a written, step-by-step guide in our Help Center. Each guide is complete on its own, so you never need to watch a video to follow it.
Prefer to watch? When a guide has a video version, you'll find the link at the top of the guide. Our videos are on our YouTube channel (opens in a new tab), in the same language as the guide, with YouTube's automatic captions turned on. The written guide is always the complete, up-to-date version.
Stuck on a step? Tap the chat: our AI assistant answers right away, and our team picks up anything it can't.
Printing your QR code
How do I print my QR code?
Download your QR code from your dashboard. A vector file (SVG or PDF) stays sharp at any size; otherwise use a large, high-resolution PNG, never a screenshot. Any local print shop, online printer or sign shop can turn it into an acrylic table stand, a laminated vinyl sticker or a window decal. Your code never changes, so you only print once. Read the step-by-step printing guide
What's the easiest way to put my QR code on the tables?
Buy clear acrylic sign holders (4x6 or 5x7 inch are the most common) and slide in a card printed with your QR code, your logo and "Scan to view our menu." To freshen the design later, you replace the card, not the stand.
How big should the QR code be?
About 1 to 1.25 inches (2.5–3 cm) square on a table. On a window or wall, go much bigger: roughly one-tenth of the distance people scan from.
Can I use a sticker instead of a stand?
Yes, but use laminated vinyl, never paper. Tables are wiped with sanitizer every day, and paper stickers don't survive it.
Do I need a different QR code for each table?
No. Your menu QR code opens your menu, so the same code works on every table, the counter, the window and takeout bags.
How do I make sure it scans before I order 50?
Print one sample and scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone, sitting down, under your real dining room lighting, and through the acrylic if you use a holder.
Plans and billing
How much does it cost?
The free plan is free, for as long as you like. Pro and Full Service are priced per location and billed annually in advance; you'll find the current prices in our Pricing section. Prices are in US dollars, and sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
Can I pay monthly?
No. Payments are made for at least one year at a time, up front. The monthly price on the site is for information only, to make the comparison easier.
When does my paid year start?
On the day you pay. On Pro, your free days aren't lost: pay during your trial and the days you have left are added on top of your paid term. Buy Pro on day 10 of your trial and you get twelve months plus the 20 free days you had left. Full Service always starts on the day you pay and runs for twelve months, with no free days added, because it begins with a complete setup by our team.
Does Full Service have a free month?
No. Full Service starts on the day you pay and runs for twelve months from then, even if you buy it during your free month, because it begins with a complete setup by our team, photos and campaigns included. If you want to try the product first, start with the 30-day free trial and upgrade whenever you like.
Can I upgrade from Pro to Full Service in the middle of my year?
Yes. We deduct the value of the Pro license days you've paid for and haven't used yet — worked out on what you actually paid for Pro, before tax — from the Full Service price, and you pay the difference. Your Full Service year starts on the day you pay it. The deduction only works toward the upgrade; it isn't paid out.
Will you charge me automatically or renew without asking?
Never without telling you. We don't take a card when you sign up, and checkout is run by our authorised reseller, so your card details never reach us. At checkout, the reseller may save your card and renew your plan automatically when your year ends. If you'd rather it didn't, just mark that at checkout: it won't save your card or renew your plan automatically. Either way we remind you before your year ends, and if you renew before the end date your new year starts when the old one ends, so you lose no days.
What happens if I don't renew?
Your account moves to the free plan. Your menu stays online, your QR codes keep working, and your guests keep seeing your menu. The Pro features pause — nothing is deleted — and non-intrusive ads appear on your menu.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of paying. On Pro, tell us within 14 days and we refund the full amount, no conditions and no reason needed. On Full Service you can also get a refund within the first 14 days, minus 40% for the setup, because Full Service begins with a complete setup by our team. If an automatic renewal goes through that you didn't want, tell us within 14 days and we refund it in full, Full Service included. After 14 days, payments aren't refunded on any plan, which is why you get thirty days of the complete product without paying anything first: decide during the trial.
How does automatic renewal work?
When it's on, we email you 30 days and again 7 days before your renewal date with the date and the amount. You can switch it off in your dashboard in one step at any time, and your plan simply ends at the end of your current year. If a renewal goes through that you didn't want, tell us within 14 days and we refund it in full, Full Service included.
Who handles my payment and my invoice?
Checkout is run by our authorised reseller, which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, charges the right sales tax and sends your receipt or invoice.
What if you change your prices?
A price change never touches a year you've already paid for. It only applies to your next purchase.
Is there a multi-year discount?
See Today's Specials for what's on right now.
How does Bring a friend work?
Recommend MenuOnGo to another restaurant. When they buy a paid plan, you both get extra time on your own plan: six months if you're on Pro, three months if you're on Full Service. Your bonus time is added to your account 15 business days after you earn it. Rewards apply to paid plans, and the extra time has no cash value.
The free plan and ads
Is the free plan really free, forever?
Yes. It isn't a trial with a countdown — it's a working menu for as long as you like. The free plan includes: unlimited products, categories and scans; AI menu import; your own photos, allergens, dietary labels (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, kosher) and calories; your logo, themes and backgrounds; your Wi-Fi, phone, socials and map right on the menu; a review link; and your menu on Google Search and Maps. Free menus show non-intrusive ads. AI description suggestions, AI translation, one-tap sold-out, visitor analytics, private guest feedback, multi-location management, an ADA-ready menu, video, campaigns and print-ready files are part of Pro — and everyone gets them free for the first 30 days.
Why are there ads on my free menu?
That's how we keep the free plan free and working properly. Free menus show non-intrusive, clearly labelled ads — currently at the bottom of the page. It never covers or replaces your items, prices, allergens or business details, and anything that appears over the menu can be closed by the guest.
What kind of ads will my guests see?
Ads come from Google's ad network. We block alcohol, tobacco and vaping, gambling, adult content, political and religious messages, health claims and crypto — and we block other restaurants and food delivery apps as far as Google's tools allow. No filter is perfect; if you ever see an ad that doesn't belong on your menu, tell us at support@menuongo.com and we'll block it.
Do I get a share of the ad revenue?
No. The ads pay for the free plan you're using.
How do I remove the ads?
Buy Pro or Full Service. The ads disappear as soon as the paid plan starts. They never appear during your trial month or on a paid plan.
Will my guests see a cookie pop-up?
On a paid plan, never. On the free plan it depends on where your guest is: outside the United States the law requires us to ask before showing personalised ads, so guests see a short consent message; in the United States they don't, and every free menu has a Your Privacy Choices link instead. Either way, a guest who says no can still read the whole menu.
Can I click the ads on my own menu?
Please don't. Clicking your own ads, or asking anyone to, counts as ad fraud — the account is closed and it can be a crime. To make it easy, you won't see ads on your own menu while you're logged in.
Are there scan limits on the free plan?
No. Every plan has unlimited scans. A menu that stops working in the middle of dinner service isn't a free plan, it's a trap.
Languages
How many languages can my menu have?
Your menu can be written in any of 230 languages — Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Cyrillic scripts included. On the free plan it appears in the one language you write it in. On Pro and Full Service, context-aware AI translation adds up to ten more languages, in one click each. Need more? Ask us — if we approve the request, we'll switch them on free of charge. Always check AI translations before they go live — you know your dishes, the AI doesn't.
Which language does a guest see?
Their phone's language, if it's one of your menu's languages. If not, they see your original language and can switch with one tap.
Can I edit the AI translations?
Yes — and you must check them before they go live. Our translation is context-aware: it knows it's reading a menu, keeps dish names that shouldn't be translated, and picks food words rather than dictionary words. Even so, food is where machine translation goes wrong most often — a regional ingredient turned into something else, an allergen lost in the wording. Read every line, or have someone fluent in that language read it, before you publish.
Can I swap one language for another?
Yes, whenever you like. A language you switch off isn't deleted — its translation is kept, so switching it back on is instant. The same goes if you move from Pro to the free plan: your translations are paused, not deleted, and come back the moment you upgrade again.
What happens to my translations when I move to the free plan?
They're hidden, not deleted. On the free plan your menu appears in its main language only, so guests no longer see the translated versions. Every translation stays saved in your account, including the edits you made, and the moment you pay for Pro or Full Service they're visible again. You won't need to translate anything twice.
Features and your menu
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Pro adds AI description suggestions, context-aware AI translation into up to ten languages (more on request), one-tap sold-out, visitor analytics, private guest feedback (notes from guests that only you can see), central management for multiple locations, an ADA-ready menu, video and animations, campaigns with video, print-ready files and written support from our team within one day — and your guests see no ads and no cookie pop-ups.
Can I hide an item that's sold out?
Yes, on Pro and Full Service: one tap hides it from your menu, and one tap brings it back. On Full Service you do this one yourself too, because it's quicker than writing to us. If you run several locations, each branch can mark its own items sold out without touching the others.
How does Full Service work? Can I ask for changes every hour?
Send your updates by chat or email: price changes, items to add or remove, new photos, an offer to place in one of our templates. In the chat, our AI assistant gathers your request, shows you a summary to confirm and opens a ticket for our team, so everything stays in writing. Regular updates are usually done within 1–2 hours, and never more than six. Bigger jobs, like a whole new seasonal menu, a new category structure or rebuilding the menu from scratch, count as major updates and are done within 24 hours. Times are counted in support hours (9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week) and start once your request is complete, that is, when you confirm the summary. If we're waiting on something from you, the clock pauses until you reply.
Every request includes one revision: if something isn't right, tell us in the same ticket and we fix it within the same time, without it counting as a new request. To keep quality high for everyone, there's a generous fair-use limit of up to 4 major updates a month, and unused ones don't roll over. So far, no one has used them all. For anything urgent mid-service, like a dish that's just sold out, hide it yourself with one tap in your dashboard; there's no need to send us a request.
Will Full Service make videos or design for me?
No. We place what you send: your photos, prices and offers, in our templates. Full Service includes a complete setup with your photos; your price, item, description and photo changes; and campaigns built from our ready-made templates with the photos, text and offer you send. We don't take photos, film videos, animate or design artwork from scratch.
Can we take orders or payments through the QR menu?
No — and that's deliberate. We're menu display specialists. You keep your existing POS, we keep your menu stunning. No staff retraining, no commission, no confusion at the table. If taking orders and payments at the table matters to you, we're honestly not the right tool.
Can I download my current QR menu to use as a printed menu too?
On Pro and Full Service, yes — print-ready files in the size you need: letter, legal, landscape, portrait and more. We're not a print shop; we give you the file and your printer does the rest.
Can my menu show up on Google Maps?
Yes, on every plan — including Free. Your menu has one permanent link: the same address your QR code opens. Add it to your Google Business Profile once, and people who find you on Google Search or Google Maps can open your menu before they decide where to eat. Four steps:
- Open your profile. Sign in with the Google account that manages your Business Profile and go to business.google.com — or search for your restaurant's name on Google Search or Google Maps to open your management panel.
- Start editing. Select Edit profile, then Business information. On a computer, in Google Search, the path is shorter: after Edit profile, go straight to Contact.
- Find the menu field. Open the Contact tab and find Menu link.
- Paste your link. Copy your menu link from your MenuOnGo dashboard — it looks like https://www.menuongo.com/… — paste it in and select Save.
Who is responsible for allergen and price information?
You are — it's your kitchen and your menu. That includes every translation: an AI translation you publish is your text, and you're responsible for it being right, allergens above all. We give you the tools to show allergens, dietary labels (halal and kosher included) and calories clearly on every plan, and we check the menus we build for you, but the information on your menu — in every language — is always yours to confirm.
Is the menu ADA compliant?
On Pro and Full Service, your menu is ADA-ready: built to WCAG 2.1 AA, the accessibility standard used to judge whether a website meets the ADA — real text instead of pictures of text, proper headings, strong default contrast, and full keyboard and screen-reader support. What you put on it is yours to keep accessible, and that's easy: keep strong contrast between text and background (dark on light works best; avoid pale grey or text over busy photos); keep text at a readable size and never put words inside an image — type them as text; describe every dish in words, not only with a photo; add captions to videos; and don't let colour alone carry meaning — write "spicy" or "vegan" instead of just colouring it red or green.
Why is ADA-ready a Pro feature — and why am I responsible for my menu's content?
Two reasons. First, free menus show ads supplied by Google. We don't control what those ads contain or how they're built, so we can't promise they meet accessibility standards — and one inaccessible ad on the page is enough to break the promise for the whole menu. Pro and Full Service menus carry no ads, so we can stand behind ADA-ready there. Second, your menu is yours. You choose and upload the photos, videos and campaigns; you write, edit or accept the descriptions — including AI suggestions; you approve the translations; you set the colours, fonts and layout. We build the template to the standard, but we can't see or check what you put inside it, so keeping that content accessible is your responsibility. Follow the simple rules in the answer above and you're most of the way there. Our Accessibility Statement explains the details.
Do you have an accessibility statement?
Yes — it's linked at the bottom of every page of this site and at the bottom of every menu we host. It explains the standard we build to, what it covers, the known limitations, and how anyone — including your guests — can report a problem. We reply within two business days.
Your guests and your data
Do my guests need to download an app?
No. It opens in whatever browser is already on their phone.
Do you track my guests?
Your visitor numbers are counted on our servers without cookies and without any identifier that follows a guest around. On paid plans, that's all that happens. On free menus, the ad provider may use cookies — only after consent outside the US, and with a one-tap opt-out in the US. We never collect your guests' names, emails or phone numbers.
Who owns my menu?
You do. You give us permission to host and display it so we can run the service; that's all.
Can I leave, and take my menu with me?
Yes. You can end the agreement with seven days' notice by email, and for thirty days afterwards we'll send you a machine-readable export of your menu if you ask. Your 14-day refund right still applies; payments already made aren't refunded.
What happens if I stop logging in?
Nothing, for a long time — your menu keeps working. If nobody logs in for twelve months, we'll email you before we close the account.
Support and the company
Can I call you?
No. We don't offer phone or voice support; everything is in writing. Our AI assistant answers in the chat at any hour, and our team replies in writing through a ticket opened from the chat, or by email at support@menuongo.com. Written support means you get an answer you can save, forward to your staff, and come back to next week.
How fast do you reply?
The AI assistant answers instantly, any time. On Pro, a person from our team replies in writing within one day. On Full Service, your requests come first: typically done within 0–2 hours, regular updates within 6 hours max, and major updates within 24 hours, counted in support hours. On Free, the AI assistant answers your questions, and our team handles your menu import and any billing or account question. Our team works 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week.
What are your support hours?
Our team works 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. The AI assistant is in the chat around the clock, and anything it can't solve waits for our team in writing.
Is the chat a real person?
The chat is our AI assistant. It answers right away, any time, and it tells you it's AI. If it can't solve something, it hands your question to our team, who reply in writing.
Do you offer onboarding calls or screen-share setup?
No, and you won't need one. The Smart Menu Scanner builds your menu in 1–2 minutes, and if you'd rather not do it yourself, our team imports your menu for you the same day, free, on any plan. Full Service works the same way: there's no call, and we set everything up from what you send us in writing.
Who is behind MenuOnGo?
MenuOnGo is built by the team behind Possian POS — point-of-sale software for restaurants, cafés and bars, and for stores that sell by barcode, from convenience stores to markets. We've spent years building the software that runs restaurant floors, kitchens and checkout counters every day, so we know what a full house on a Saturday night looks like — and what your menu has to keep up with.
Where can I read the fine print?
Everything is linked at the bottom of this page: the User Agreement (our Terms of Use), the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Privacy Notice, the Cancellation and Refund Conditions and our Accessibility Statement. If anything on this page ever disagrees with them, the documents win — and please tell us so we can fix the page.
Still wondering? Just try it.
Thirty days of every Pro feature, menu import included, and nothing to pay.
